The Rocky Dawuni Foundation was established in 2016 as a not-for-profit organization whose philosophy is reflected through its mission, vision, and objectives.
The Foundation exists to inspire youth leadership and instigate social change through the preservation, promotion and elevation of music, arts, and culture while raising the consciousness of young people about climate change, resource conservation, and environmental awareness.
To become a Global Innovation Centre (GIC) of excellence that promotes positive social change through education, culture, and leadership programs geared towards the creation of innovative spaces and a community of young leaders who are ethically disciplined and equipped with the right mindset in making the world a better place.
Three-time GRAMMY nominated international music star and activist Rocky Dawuni straddles the boundaries between Africa, the Caribbean and the U.S. to create his signature “Afro Roots” sound that unites generations and cultures. With an easy-going charisma and reputation as a dedicated champion of social causes, Dawuni’s infectious grooves and dance-inducing anthems have consistently excited fans across the globe.
A galvanizing performer, Dawuni has shared the stage with Stevie Wonder, Peter Gabriel, Bono, Jason Mraz, Janelle Monae and John Legend, among many others. Named one of Africa’s Top 10 global stars by CNN, he has showcased his talent at prestigious venues such as The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
Dawuni’s eloquence, cultural diplomacy and successful melding of music and activism have led him to become a passionate spokesperson for various global causes. In 2018 he was named a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for the Environment for Africa at the Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) in the UN Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya where the also did a full band performance for the entire delegation.
